02/04/08 There was quite a good turnout for the final race of the winter season on Monday evening. The Championship went to Daniel Goodings, with Louis Lazarus and James Pargeter taking 2nd and 3rd places.
26/02/08 Last night we finally had a dry race on the International B Circuit! It’s just a pity that only 11 drivers turned out.
07/11/07 The winter season started on Monday 5th November. 20 drivers took to the International B circuit, which uses an extra loop at the bottom of the track, in damp but drying conditions. To add an additional bit of interest for this series, especially for drivers who do not usually compete at the top of the league table, bonus points are being awarded for getting very close (either above or below) to a target lap time. As a spectator for this race, I selected the target lap time at the end of practice. The idea is that the target selected should be achievable by all drivers on the track, but as the quickest lap times during practice varied from 1:40.170 to 2:15.163 it was quite hard to pick a suitable target. In the end we opted for 1:55, and I am glad to say that by the end of the race everyone managed to dip below that time, with 3 drivers getting the bonus points. 09/10/07 The club held its last race of the season yesterday. Steve Bone took the Heavyweight Championship laurels, followed by Stuart Shearman, and Daniel Goodings. Louis Lazarus was the winner in the Lightweight class, from James Pargeter, and Kam Ho. The first race of the winter season will be held on 5th November. 13/09/07 During the practice session for our club race on the 3rd, there was a bit of confusion with transponder allocations leading to the loss of the practice lap times. So that no-one would be disadvantaged it they were relying upon the results from this race to count towards their championship score, the committee decide to make up for the lack of points for practice lap times by uplifting the other points won by 25%. This is because the lap times during practice usually count for 1/5 of the total points available. Good conditions on the night led to 5 drivers being able to set personal best lap times quick enough to show up in our record lap time chart.
The more hardy and enthusiastic club members will be glad to hear that, after a 2 year gap, we will once again be running a winter race series this year. Details to be confirmed and will be announced during October. 02/08/07 Nobody submitted any news or gossip last month, and I missed the race myself due to holidays. Hence, not even a brief summary last month.
Last night we had a dry race for the first time in months! Dry, sunny, and warm. Let’s hope we get a few more like that. I had a very good time myself and scored maximum points despite starting absolutely last due to the handicapped start. 13/06/07 A good size grid of 25. The rain started to lash down the instant I stepped outside my house to go to the track, but stopped before we actually took to the track. So, no brilliant lap times, but at least we didn’t get too soggy. 14/05/07 There was a fair size field and as far as I could tell, a lot of good close racing. Unfortunately, far too many people seemed to have left their common sense and manners at home, leading to what must have been a record number of black flags being used during an ANKC race. 16/04/07 First race of the season. New karts, perfect weather, and a good size grid following a flurry of very late entries. The plan for this season had been to run each individual race as a handicap, but also feed the results into 2 Championship tables separated by weight. Somewhere along the way this got changed and most of us were surprised to see 9 race trophies appear covering 3 separate classes!
