Fastrack

Fastrack 28/03/01

This was the curtain-raiser to the club's 2001 summer season, held at the reopened indoor track formerly known as Magna Karta. The track was been redesigned and is longer and more interesting than the old layout. This does make for some interesting driving as you cross the grippy surface, which was on the line of the old layout, onto the virgin concrete which is slippier than a slippy thing.

The format was, unusually for the club, a sprint with heats, semis and a final. Some club members had been to one or two of the open sprint events FasTrack had put on and were able to pass on their experience both off and on the track. There were a lot of new faces as well as many of the old hands which led to some interesting racing in the heats as the fast boys tried, with varied success, to make up places from the back of the grid. The semis and final had a more predictable look to them apart from the winner David, who took his chance to make use of his long experience on indoor tracks. Well done David.
