Park Royal

Park Royal 26/03/01

Six karters from the Milton Keynes club went down to the Daytona Park Royal indoor circuits join colleagues from the London area in a two hour team enduro. After the practise session the karts were put on the grid in random order which meant the MK teams were starting from near the back. Greater experience soon told though, and after ten minutes racing MK teams were running first and second with the third MK team not much further back. Passing is very difficult on this track and for once the use of blue flags was greatly appreciated. The top two teams swapped places a number of times throughout the race and were still only seconds apart with 15 minutes to go when Stuart was erroneously black-flagged for overtaking under yellow (but the lights went out guv'!).

After a stewards enquiry, the top two teams were disqualified for "you've done this before, haven't you?" which promoted the third MK team into 2nd place. All the London guys appeared to have a great time and were lapping quicker and quicker as the race went on and are hoping to form a London karting club.
